Scope of Work
Video Production Service
Background
In 2017, led by Catholic Relief services and in partnership with five other international NGOs as well as Tufts University, with fund from Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) the second phase of the Taadoud project was launched. Taadoud II focuses on improving natural resource management (NRM) and governance, reducing chronic malnutrition, and increasing the resilience of livelihoods of returnees and conflict-affected vulnerable populations in all five Darfur states. The project directly supports 177,583 returnee and conflict-affected vulnerable households (HHs).
Purpose
Taadoud II’s project team is interested to produce an hour-long documentary video, to show the status of natural resources and livelihoods of targeted communities in West Darfur, and to follow the implementation of activities as they progress throughout the life of the project, document impacts, lessons learned, and achievements.
The overall objective of the documentary video is to share anecdotal evidence which promote and convey the project’s communication strategy’s key messages, which state:
- Taadoud II is leading the shift from humanitarian assistance to recovery and resilience programming in Darfur.
- Taadoud II’s approach to natural resource management brings multiple stakeholders together to promote the peaceful co-management of natural resources and improve productivity.
- Taadoud II is providing support to improve household livelihood and nutrition to vulnerable populations in Darfur.
Scope of work
Taadoud II requires a service of videographer to work with the project team in producing an hour-long high-quality documentary video to show the status of natural resources and livelihoods of targeted communities in West Darfur, and to follow the implementation of activities as they progress throughout the life of the project, document impacts, lessons learned, and achievements.
Content of the videos
Based on Catholic Relief Services and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Offices’ (FCDO) visual production guidelines, the service provider will produce an hour-long documentary video showcasing the importance and achievements of the project by featuring project’s participants/ beneficiaries to share change stories, testimonials, and its link to the project key messages. The documentary video will include English subtitle, and voiceover (that to be determined based on the content). The overall contents of the video including interview guiding questions/scripts will be developed by learning and commination manager, reviewed and approved by the CRS before execution, while translation/subtitles, and voiceovers with be the responsibility of the videographer but reviewed and approved by CRS.
Deliverables
The service provider shall have proven experience in the field of similar video production, knowledge of lighting and audio production techniques and knowledge of equipment used for production and editing.
The service provider is expected to deliver the following results:
- The service provider will provide professional video and audio production and will use grade editing applications such as Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro and After Effects.
- The service provider will produce an hour-long documentary video to show the status of natural resources and livelihoods of targeted communities in West Darfur, and to follow the implementation of activities as they progress throughout the life of the project, document impacts, lessons learned, and achievements.
Location of Performance
Shooting the videos will be in West Darfur state.
Scope of Timeframe
The field work will start on 15, January ,2022, and completed on 30 January 2022 (it depends on the security situation in West Darfur).
The video production service provider expected to meet the following timeline:
-Traveling to West Darfur for field work/ shooting: 15-30 January 2022.
-Submit edited documentary video for the CRS’s feedback: 20 February 2022.
-Receive CRS’s feedback: 27 February 2022.
-Submit the final edited documentary video for CRS’s approval 28 February 2022.
Notice on travel/ accommodation expense!
CRS will book the flights and provide accommodation (guesthouse or hotel) in West Darfur. Please note that we expect a level of flexibility from the videographer with regards to type and quality of accommodation and with regards to the overall planning which will at times be impacted by external factors. The videographer is responsible for his own meals, although these may sometimes be provided by CRS during the field work.
Equipment
The service provider will use his/her own equipment for shooting, recording, lighting-if required-and editing.
Reporting
The service provider will be working closely with the Learning and Communication Manager, with overall guidance and direction by the CMU.
