Payment Terms

  1. Quotation should remain valid for a period of at least ninety (90) days from the submission closing date.

Bid Requirements

Offers that do not meet the following will be automatically rejected regardless of price:

  1. Offers must be received before the stated deadline.

  3.  Unit prices must be provided for all line items. Offers that only include totals will be rejected.
  4. Bids that include mistakes in calculations within the Bill of Quantities will be excluded from competition.

  6. Offers must be complete from all sides, signed, dated, and stamped on all pages.
  7. Please note that CRS will sign a long-term contract with the selected supplier, based on unit prices, while actual quantities will be determined through purchase orders that will be issued later with awarded vendor(s) per CRS actual needs.

Scope of Work (drilling ten boreholes in Nertiti, Zalingei and Um Dukhun Localities)

Catholic Relief Services (CRS), an international relief and development agency, committed to the alleviation of human suffering, development of people and fostering of charity and justice in the world irrespective of race, creed, or nationality.

CRS currently implementing MOAFA III project: Integrated Health Nutrition and WASH Project in Central Darfur State; the project seeks qualified Engineering Entity to drill and complete ten water wells in Central Darfur State, one at Zalingei town hospital, seven in Um Dukhun Locality and two at Katroum and Golol villages in Nertiti locality.

 

Locations: 1/ Beltabei; 2/ Um Frot (Beltabei cluster), 3/ Abongaweya, 4/ Ardem, 5/ Malla, 6/ Abu Jaradil, 7/ Geregy (Abu Jaradil), 8/ Zalingei hospital, 9/ Katroum, and 10/ Golol.

Localities:  Um Dukhun, Zalingei and Nertiti localities respectively.

State:       Central Darfur

Conditions: the bidder should have:

  • Valid registration certificate with the government of Sudan.
  • Specialized in water-wells drilling industry with previous experience in similar technical and geographical areas.
  • Have qualified technical staff, geologists, civil, drilling engineers, technicians, skilled labor etc.
  • Have technical capacity, equipment including combined (rotary and hammer) drilling rig and devices required to carry out the water wells’ drilling and completion of work.
  • Capable to use (if needed) both drilling methods (rotary and hammer) in each location.
  • Should have financial capacity to start and complete the work on time.
  • Should be aware of standards and policies of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Project’s (WES).

Scope of work:

Primary Functions:

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of CRS and WES project Engineers, the vendor should bring and use his own drilling rig, equipment, devices, and materials and should complete the drilling of ten boreholes at the specific points recommended by the geophysical survey as stated hereinafter with coordinates at each location.

The minimum diameter of the borehole range 6”-8”, and inside diameter of uPVC casing and screens is 5.5” with suitable slot size range from (0.02” to 0.06” preferable 0.04”) depend on the aquifer grain size and sorting.

Based on the recommendation after pumping test results and the proved productivity, each well will be completed according to feasibility to one of the following two options (hand pump or water yard operated with submersible pump):

  1. After pumping test, if the water-well is productive but not feasible for installation of submersible pump, it should be equipped with hand pumps Indian Mark II, concrete apron, drainage, animal trough and fence. The work should be completed according to or exceeds WES technical Guidelines.
  2. Productive wells which are feasible and fit for operation with submersible pump should be completed as low-capacity (mini) water-yard comprises of but not limited to:
  • Water-tank, made of steel, cylindrical-shaped, with storage capacity of 15,000 liters.
  • The elevated tank should be fenced with (guardrail) on erected steel tower 6m meters height fabricated of iron beams with combined fixed and movable ladder.
  • the water well to be equipped and pumped with electrical submersible pumps (size, head, and capacity, depend on pumping test results).
  • Install discharge pipe to connect rising main of the pump with the elevated storage tank.
  • Install distribution pipe to connect the outlet of the elevated water-storage-tank to the distribution tabs and pipe work for community usage and filling of carts.
  • Solar energy unit’s panels should be installed and placed on top of a separate tower of 4-meters-height with complete set of accessories including connecting cables, control panels, switches etc. to operate the submersible pump.
  • Fencing the whole water yard (borehole, storage tank, solar panels, & distribution tabs) with barbed wire and heavy duty iron angles or pipes fixed into ground with cement-sand-gravel concrete, the main gate equipped with heavy-duty door made of steel.
  •  construct drainage for wastewater released from the distribution tabs.
  • Any other addition(s) proposed by the vendor.

The vendor should submit quotations for both options (1 and 2), but the final settlement will be based on the selected option and the actual work done.

As option 2 require more specific data derived from pumping test, the bidder quotation for option 2 will be considered as a proposal that can be adjusted after the pumping test.

The main objective of this work is to supply safe water to the health facilities and community of the target locations.

The geophysical survey recommended specific points for each location option 1 and 2 or 3 in case of drilling dry borehole at point 1 the contractor should drill point 2 and (3 as in case of Beltabei); the following table summarize the recommendation of expected depths:
